She retweeted a comment that said: "I like my superstars with a dash of weird and a little extra spice. And the girl can sing. Consider me team @MileyCyrus. "In the last few months the starlet has made a concerted effort to shed the image she acquired as a teenager playing Hannah Montana, a schoolgirl whose secret alter ego is a pop star. Her long brunette extensions have been chopped off in favour of a peroxide crop and ever increasing numbers of tattoos. A tempestuous on-off relationship with actor Liam Hemsworth has also kept her very much in the headlines.

The morning after the performance during which she twerked alongside 36-year-old singer Robin Thicke, Miley herself appeared unconcerned. Where did I go wrong?"

"She went for it," she said. "You've got to give her some credit. We're all talking about her." Brooke went on to express concern that her former co-star could be taking attempts to distance herself from her wholesome Disney star days too far. "I just want to know who's advising her," she said. 'She can sing beautifully, and I feel like if she lets that lead, rather than let her bottom lead....

Her former co-star Brooke Shields is in two minds about her routine

Meanwhile director Judd Apatow posted a picture of her as Hannah Montana with the caption: "'I will always have this version of Miley. Let's live in the past and heal.
