Britney Spears scoops first ever People's Choice Award

Britney Spears won her first ever People's Choice Award on Wednesday night, scooping a trophy for favorite pop artist.

"Wow!" squealed the pop princess as she stepped up to the podium. "This is so cool, this is awesome! I was not expecting this.

"It's because of all of you that I'm able to do what I love to do," Britney, 32, continued, before thanking her family, her "beautiful boys" at home and "all of you."

It was a night of firsts for Britney, as she stepped out for the first time with her boyfriend of one year, David Lucado.

The pair were at their most dashing to make their debut as a couple. Britney showed off her curves in a showstopping nude-coloured Mikael D number with sparkling silver embellishments, accessorising with a pair of matching Giuseppe Zanotti heels.

Her trademark blonde tresses, worn in a relaxed half up'do, cascaded down her back in waves.

Meanwhile, Lucado, 27, was dapper in a dark suit, skinny black tie and black lace-up boots.

Other wins of the night went to Britney's ex Justin Timberlake, who scooped a gong for favourite album for The 20/20 Experience. Sandra Bullock picked up not one but three awards, for favourite movie actress, as well as dramatic and comedic movie actress.

Newlywed Kaley Cuoco is kicking of 2014 with a bang. She won her first People's Choice Award for favourite comedic actress just days after tying the knot on New Year's Eve.

"This is the second-best thing that happened to me all year, the first was marrying you," she told her new hubby Ryan Sweeting.
