"The other day, literally I didn't tell anybody this, I really thought I was about to die,” she said at the star-studded gathering. “I was saying my prayers to die. And I didn't even want to call the ambulance,” she explained adding that if she did it would end up on television and internet news channels.
Nicki continued to be vague about exactly what was wrong with her health as she continued her acceptance speech in front of celebrities including Paris Hilton and Lionel Richie.
"And I would rather sit there and die. And it made me realise I don't care what anybody got to say. I'm going to do me," she unexpectedly added.
Nicki, 31, was speaking after she won her fifth trophy for Best Female Hip Hop Artist in row at the event, which was hosted by comedian Chris Rock this year.
