When she was in girl band Girls Aloud, Cheryl Fernandez-Versini sang Can't Speak French, but now the X Factor judge has shown off her linguistic skills in the language of love in a radio interview.
Speaking to Greg James on Radio 1 on Tuesday evening, the 31-year-old star confidently spoke in French.
Greg asked Cheryl whether she would be performing on the X Factor this year, to which Cheryl replied: "Oui oui, je suis", which translates as "yes yes I am".
Cheryl began taking classes from her new husband, French restaurateur Jean-Bernard, after they tied the knot in July. A source close to the Geordie beauty said that she was keen to learn, so that she would be able to speak to Jean-Bernard's friends and family.
While she showed off just a short phrase to fans, the pop star demonstrated her new-found love for Jean-Bernard's first language.
During the live interview, Cheryl also confirmed that American stars Taylor Swift and Pharrell Williams would also be appearing on the show to perform.
The Crazy Stupid Love singer was joined on the radio show by the girls from her X Factor group – Chloe Jasmine, Stephanie Nala and Lauren Platt.
Cheryl has had a busy month so far, releasing her hot new single I Don't Care, the title of which she says sums up how she feels about life at the moment.
"I'm a woman now," she said. "I'm at that age where things don't bother me like they used to. I still care about things, but I've discovered what's important to care about, and what's most definitely not."
The new single is taken from Cheryl's upcoming solo album, Only Human, due for release later this year. The track itself comes out on 9 November.
Only Human will be her fourth solo album. Crazy Stupid Love, her single featuring Tinie Tempah, reached number one in the charts, making it the fourth time she topped the solo charts after Fight For This Love, Promise This and Call My Name.
