Could Katy Perry and John Mayer be rekindling their romance? The former couple were spotted together for the first time in nearly a year at the weekend, sparking reports that their relationship is getting back on track.
Katy, 30, and John, 37, split up last February, but reunited for a dinner date with friends in Beverly Hills on Saturday evening – their first public appearance since ending their two-year romance.
It's unclear whether the pair have decided to get back together. One insider told US Weekly that the exes have indeed "reconnected", adding, "Things just needed to cool down. They aren't officially back on but talking again."
Another told People that the date didn’t necessarily signal that their on-off relationship was back on. "They actually buried the hatchet a while back, and they are friends," a source close to Katy said. "It's not a surprise they would see each other socially. She's focused on her career and making herself happy."
Most recently, Katy was linked to DJ and producer Diplo – they were last spotted together celebrating her 30th birthday in Morocco in October.
That same month, she spoke about her past relationships, and what she's learned from them, in Harper's Bazaar.
"What I've learned is that if you don't have the foundation of self-love first, you really have nowhere to pull love from to give it away," said the star, whose marriage to Russell Brand came to an end in December 2011, after 14 months.
"I had to learn about taking care of myself before I could take care of others. I want to mommy everyone. I want to take care of them. I want to save them, and I forget myself in the meantime."
