In her photos, Katy was photographed rock climbing, scaling curved sandstone peaks on metal rungs for ladders, joined by her boyfriend, former Canadian prime minister Justin Trudeau.

The couple posed for a kiss atop one of the peaks, walked a narrow metal bridge, went kayaking after their exploits, shared a slice of birthday cake, and Katy even showed off her Brick, a physical device that helps you manage your screen time, implying she was able to spend her birthday completely off the grid.

"Climbed to level 42 this week!" she captioned her post. "Was feeling indifferent about the inbetweeness of age 42… Then it was explained to me that 42 is actually the answer to everything. Though I still don't understand, I’m ok with turning 42 as long as I can turn 42 with you, back to living…"

Fans were entranced by the new shots, with one commenting: "Okay, that was a great way to celebrate a birthday," and another saying: "OMG BE CAREFUL," and one of her dancers from her Lifetimes Tour also saying: "Pluto's favorite child! Happy Birthday!"

Katy and Justin began dating in the middle of 2025, bonding while the singer was on her global Lifetimes Tour and just a few short months after her split with fiancé Orlando Bloom went public.

She told People of finding joy with the former politician while on the road: "I learned how to step back into my purpose, and I got the greatest gift from this tour: I got to meet the love of my life."

"It was probably the hardest time. My friends were all hanging out back home. I was crying and just feeling far away," she said of her "lowest point" in the wake of her break-up with the Lord of the Rings star, with whom she'd welcomed daughter Daisy Dove Bloom. "But then my angels went to work. They really showed up."

"I wouldn't have stayed in something for nine years if there wasn't really important things to learn. Each relationship is a teacher, right?" the "Bandaids" singer noted. "I had to let it go so I could move forward."

The pair have been dating for over a year now, following Katy's split from Orlando Bloom

"I always wanted this epic legendary love, and I was talking to my therapist about it: Everything in my life is epic, but this is kind of the missing puzzle piece — then it showed up."

Katy mentioned that she'd manifested things going better for her on tour, including falling in love once again. "I got to meet Justin on tour, and then things shifted," she recalled, sharing a list she'd made of the same. "No. 10 just says, 'True Love.' And I think that's where we're at."

"Was feeling indifferent about the inbetweeness of age 42… Then it was explained to me that 42 is actually the answer to everything."

She got to gush about Justin, who was in the crowd for several of her shows. "He knows the words, he's supportive, and he's in awe; it's super healing," calling him "really heart-centered, and I think that we align in that way."
