Shakira has long been a fan of Madonna, so it comes as no surprise that she took the opportunity to see her idol in concert in Barcelona on Wednesday night. The Waka Waka singer and her boyfriend Gerard Piqué were spotted in the crowd at Palau Sant Jordi after meeting with the performer backstage.
Madonna was clearly happy to chat with the couple backstage judging by the photo she shared on Instagram, writing that it was "so nice" to see Shakira and Gerard at her show.

"So nice to have @shakira and Pique at my show last night! [Heart] U Barcelona #rebelhearttour," the singer wrote.
Shakira has made no secret of her respect for Madonna in the past, previously explaining in an interview: "I admire her because she always did whatever she felt like doing."
It is the couple's second concert date night in as many months after they enjoyed another outing to a U2 concert in October. The pair snuggled up for a selfie in the crowd, which Shakira shared with the caption: "At U2's awesome concert!"

Their loved-up outings come after Gerard said he couldn't be happier with his life at the moment. Speaking to Bleacher Report, Gerard, 28, admitted: "I can't say a negative thing about my life right now. When [Spain] won the world cup in 2010, it was a pretty good moment too. But in 2015, I have two kids, and I'm really enjoying them. I'm really, really happy."
The happy couple also dote over their two sons Milan, two, and ten-month-old Sasha, and often share photos and videos of their progress on social media. One such clip sees Milan learning how to read, and managing to say difficult words like "Uruguay" and "Venezuala" with ease, much to the delight of his proud mother.
