Jesse Tyler Ferguson has a good sense of humour. The Modern Family star managed to keep it light while revealing a recent health scare to his fans this week. Jesse, shared a photo on social media of himself with a big bandage over his cheek, thanking his doctor for "taking the cancer out of my face".
He also joked about the challenge facing Modern Family's behind-the-scenes team. "Good luck hiding the stitches tomorrow @modernfamily_makeuphair!"
Jesse Tyler Ferguson revealed his cancer scare this week
Jesse didn't elaborate on the procedure – but it seems most likely the disease was skin cancer, especially given that he added the hashtag "#spf75".
It's the first time that the 40-year-old actor has spoken about his cancer; he seemed healthy and happy last month when attended co-star Sofia Vergara's wedding to Joe Manganiello with his husband Justin Mikita – who has himself battled cancer.

Jesse, who often works with cancer charities, revealed last year that his 30-year-old partner was diagnosed at a young age.
"He was diagnosed when he was 13 and that's sort of an age when you don't really realise what's going on," Jesse told E! News while attending Stand Up To Cancer. "He goes in once a year for his check up to make sure he's still cancer free so he is always reminded of it."
He added: "I think it does touch him in a lot of ways. He's thrilled that I am here and I'm definitely representing him."
The star posted a photo from the Modern Family after returning to work
Jesse is currently filming the seventh series of acclaimed ABC comedy Modern Family, starring as mild-mannered Mitchell Pritchett. Just a few hours after revealing his brush with cancer, Jesse uploaded a photo of himself with co-stars Eric Stonestreet – Cameron Tucker – and their on-screen daughter Aubrey Anderson-Emmons (Lily Tucker-Pritchett).
