What do you buy the pop princess who has everything? A white horse! Lady Gaga received the steed as an early Christmas gift from her record company on Monday, and couldn't wait to show off the "White Angel" to her fans on Instagram.

The Bad Romance singer shared a photo of the beautiful white horse on social media, which showed it wearing pink reigns with a bow and letter from her record company tied loosely around its neck.

"Today on my doorstep was delivered a White Angel from heaven. It felt like the old days of the record business, she's such a spiritual girl!" Lady Gaga wrote. "A heartfelt thank you to John Janick and Steve Berman, the whole Interscope family. I will ride, and care for, and love her forever. I was so surprised!"

She later shared another photo of the horse eating in a stable, writing: "Night my sweet girl."

The surprise gift caps off an incredible year for the performer, which started with a Valentine's Day proposal from her partner Taylor Kinney.

As well as receiving rave reviews for her performance at the Oscars in February, the star has since been praised for her role in American Horror Story: Hotel, and landed a Golden Globes nomination for her performance – much to her surprise.

"I apologize to my neighbours I'm still screaming in my apt in NY!" she tweeted. "I'm nominated as an actress for a Golden Globe what a dream is this real!"
