It’s not often that a Hollywood star is left speechless, but on Saturday night Tom Hanks found himself at a loss of words when he met Adele backstage, after watching the singer perform.
Both Tom and his wife Rita Wilson took to their respective social media pages to praise the singer. Actress Rita shared a picture of the famous couple hanging out with the songstress and the long-term partner Simon Konecki, on her Instagram page.
The Forest Gump actor shared his delight at watching the 27-year-old perform, on his Twitter page. "Adele. What a show. What a voice. What a woman. What an artist. What a date. Thank you. Hanx."
Tom and Rita, who have been married for 28 years, weren’t the only famous faces in the audience at The Wiltern in Los Angeles. Those also in attendance included Katy Perry, John Mayer, Josh Groban, Orlando Bloom, Jennifer Lawrence, Emma Stone, Woody Harrelson, David Foster and the band HAIM.
Adele will be performing at the GRAMMYs on Monday evening
Despite over 2,300 people attending the concert, Adele gave the gig an intimate atmosphere by chatting with the audience in between songs. The 27-year-old told her fans about her trip to Disneyland the day before, sang Happy Birthday to a very lucky audience member and revealed the argument she had with her management company over the price of the concert tickets.
The surprise gig, which was only announced 48 hours earlier, comes only two days before the Set Fire To The Rain singer is set to perform at the GRAMMYs. Following the music awards ceremony, the mum-of-one will then embark on a nine-month world tour, beginning in Belfast on 29 February.
