It has been reported that Jenna Coleman and Tom Hughes, who are currently playing famous couple Queen Victoria and Prince Albert in ITV's Victoria, are actually dating in real life.

According to The Mail on Sunday, the pair began dating last summer before they even began filming the historical drama, with a source telling the paper: "They've been together for months, on and off since last summer. Tom dumped his long-term girlfriend to be with Jenna and she chose to be with him even though Prince Harry was very keen on her. What started as an affair became a very serious romance.

"They were giggling together and very affectionate. One friend was joking about how they are perfect for each other as they are both short."

Another source joked about the chemistry the couple share on screen, revealing that it was due to their real life feelings for each other. They said: "The reason the chemistry is so tangible is because they are dating in real life. Those scenes are very real. They are completely hooked on one another.

"They wanted to keep it quiet because they didn't want their professionalism called into question. Also Tom was dating another actress when he met Jenna and it was all a bit messy."

The couple reportedly began dating before Victoria

Jenna has previously dated Game of Thrones actor Richard Madden, and was recently rumoured to be in a relationship with Prince Harry. However, the 30-year-old denied the rumours after being questioned about their romance on This Morning, saying: "No, he's a friend of mine."

The star has been praised by fans for her role as the Queen, and Jenna has chatted about herspectacular Victorian wedding dress costume, saying: "I've never been married on screen before - or in real life - so this is a first wedding! It takes me about two hours every day to get ready [for the scenes]. I quite like it, although horse riding in a corset is something new!"
