Mel B has remained resolutely silent on social media following her split from husband Stephen Belafonte, and her subsequent decision to file for a restraining order. But on Monday, the former Spice Girl returned to Twitter to show her support for fellow British singer Adele. Mel, 41, retweeted a message posted by Billboard which read: "Adele's 21 has broken the record for longest-charting album by a woman on the #Billboard200." It's the first tweet Mel has posted in three weeks. Her last message read: "You have to be at your strongest when you're feeling at your weakest."

Mel filed for a restraining order against Stephen one week ago. In her official documents, she alleged a litany of abuse had taken place throughout their marriage, and said she had tried to leave her partner on a number of occasions, but claimed he had threatened to destroy her career and take her children, adding: "[He] threatened me with violence and threatened to destroy my life in every possible way."

At the weekend, good friend and former X Factor colleague Simon Cowell spoke out in support of the star, telling the Sun: "She's an incredible person. If you think about what Mel's done since leaving The Spice Girls and what she's gone through, how hard she works and how I saw her try to handle this situation, it was astonishing. Yes, she's under pressure but I think she's in a good place." He continued: "It really made me think about her as a person, what she's achieved as a working mum and how she's managed to balance everything. I don't think she gets the recognition she deserves."
