Jeremy Clarkson, 66, revealed on the latest season of Clarkson's Farm that he has been diagnosed early with "aggressive" prostate cancer.
Through all the ups and downs on Diddly Squat farm, there's been one regular fixture and source of support in Jeremy's life: his long-term girlfriend Lisa Hogan, 52.
The farmer has been in a relationship with Lisa since 2017 and lives in a gorgeous Cotswolds mansion with her. While the pair have built a life together over nearly a decade, and even joked about tying the knot for tax purposes in the latest season of Clarkson's Farm, Lisa once shed light on why they have never put a ring on their relationship.
Wedding plans?
When asked in an interview with The Sun's Fabulous Magazine whether there were wedding bells in the future for the pair, Lisa replied: "Mrs Clarkson? No, thank you, I like Lisa Hogan." She added: "We decided not to have children together."
"We’re at a stage where we are not going to have kids," Lisa explained to the publication in 2022. "I’m just happy pootling along. I think because of our age, it’s much easier. You go: 'God, is it you I end up with? OK, that’s it.'
She continued: "But it’s relaxing knowing you are not going to be with anybody else. It gives you a certain amount of liberation."
During an exchange on Clarkson's Farm, the couple hinted at the possibility of a proposal. Lisa asked her partner if he was proposing after he said he had a "big surprise". Jeremy ended up pointing to a fallen willow tree instead. "I'll think about the proposal, ok? I'm not ready yet," Jeremy eventually replied.
Lisa later told The Sunday Times about the moment: "I just thought I might surprise him." Who knows, maybe we'll hear wedding bells one day!"
Love story
Little is known about the early days of their relationship, but the pair reportedly first met at a party in 2017.
Both Lisa and Jeremy have children from previous relationships. Lisa was married with three children to her ex, Baron Steven Bentinck, while Jeremy also welcomed three children with his ex-wife, Frances Cain. Lisa ended up moving from London to embracing farm life with Jeremy at Diddly Squat.
"I am so proud of Lisa. How she has gone from – how can I put this politely – a sedentary and rather luxurious life to find herself living on a farm where she didn't know anyone…" Jeremy said of his partner in an interview with The Sunday Times. "The ordering and keeping the place stocked – I don't know how she does it. It's a great little business."
Jeremy's cancer diagnosis
Jeremy shared his cancer diagnosis with fellow farmers Kaleb Cooper and Charlie Ireland on the recent season of his Amazon Prime Video series. While discussing plans for the upcoming harvest season, the farmer revealed his health condition, which he has known about since May.
"I had a medical, you remember back in May," he said. "I disappeared off the other week and I had a biopsy and it is cancer and it's aggressive, but it's really early."
"I was praying we could get the harvest done and then I could go and get some treatment but it's going to be slap bang in the middle," he explained.
Jeremy revealed he would need surgery and expected to be "out of action for a little while".
