Harrison Ford, 83, and his wife Calista Flockhart, 61, are one of Hollywood's most enduring love stories. The pair have been together for over two decades, including 16 years married, and they still seem to be as in love as ever when they make the occasional joint red carpet appearance.
The Star Wars actor shed light on the secret to his long-lasting relationship, revealing his golden marriage rule – and it's a pretty straightforward one. "Don’t talk," Harrison told Parade Magazine with a smile back in 2020, the year he was celebrating 10 years of marriage with Calista.
"Nod your head," he added.
The couple were last out on the red carpet in March for the annual Actor Awards in Los Angeles, looking loved-up as they sweetly held hands. At one point, cameras captured the wholesome moment Calista kissed her husband's cheek, prompting a beaming smile from the actor.
Long-time love
Harrison and Calista, who have a 22-year age gap, first met at one of the most star-studded events of the Hollywood calendar year: the Golden Globe Awards.
True to their Hollywood roots, their first meeting in 2002 was something straight out of a movie. According to Calista, Harrison spilled wine everywhere during their first chat.
"We were having a conversation for maybe 20 minutes before the wine spilled, and the truth is, Harrison spilled the wine!" the actress said during a joint interview with Harrison for People. Although, Harrison later recalled the moment different: "She spilled wine on me, or I spilled wine on her or something, and that sort of sealed the deal," he told the New York Times in 2024.
When he met his future wife, Harrison was already a dad of five from his previous two marriages while Calista had adopted a son in 2001. After nearly a decade of dating, the Hollywood couple tied the knot in June 2010.
Harrison's symbol of 'deep love' for Calista
When Harrison popped the question back in 2009, he proposed to his long-time love with a timeless engagement ring featuring a stunning oval-cut diamond at its centre, surrounded by a delicate halo of diamonds set on a platinum band.
HELLO! spoke to jewellery designer Jessica Flinn-Allen, who shared the shape of the ring Harrison chose was deeply symbolic and estimated its value to be in the region of $250,000/£185,000. "Halo engagement rings symbolise eternal love and devotion, connection and protection," Jessica, who has 15-plus years of experience in designing and creating fine jewellery, told us.
She added Harrison's ring choice "shows a deep love for his partner of almost 25 years, and suits her elegant, demure style. Halo engagement rings continue to be an iconic, timeless style, and are unwavering in their continued popularity."
