Olympic swimmer Adam Peaty is returning to the pool for the 2026 Commonwealth Games with one major difference.

The Team England gold medalist is now a married man after tying the knot with Holly Ramsay, celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay's daughter, in December. Along with his changed relationship status, the swimmer has adopted a new surname, which he will compete under for the first time at the upcoming international sporting event.

Following their star-studded ceremony in Bath, Holly and Adam took on the double-barrelled surname Ramsay-Peaty. While he's been Adam Peaty for his nearly two-decade-long swimming career, the Commonwealth games, which kicks off in Glasgow on 23 July, will mark the athlete's debut as Adam Ramsay-Peaty at a major championship.

Adam will hit the pool on 25 July for the men's 100m breaststroke, followed by the 50m breaststroke event two days later, which he took home gold in at the 2022 games. The swimmer has an impressive four gold Commonwealth Games medals and three silver medals to his name.

Holly and Adam's name change

Holly's father Gordon previously revealed his daughter and new son-in-law told him the night before their wedding that they would have a joint surname. The famous chef recalled being "lost for words" over the news.

"They told us the night before the wedding. I was lost for words. A wonderful suggestion. Very modern," he told the Daily Mail

Holly and Adam said "I do" in a gorgeous ceremony at Bath Abbey last December, followed by a reception at nearby Kin House in Wiltshire. The newlyweds confirmed the name change when Adam updated his Instagram handle with his new surname.

Six months after their wedding, Holly and Adam announced in a heartwarming social media post that they are expecting a baby girl together this year. "Baby Ramsay-Peaty coming December 2026," they captioned a sweet photo showing off Holly's blossoming baby bump.

Holly spoke to HELLO! a month before her baby news about her hopes for a "big family" with Adam.

Holly revealed she'd love to follow in the footsteps of her father and mother, Tana Ramsay, who have six children, and have a big family of her own. "Absolutely," smiled Holly. "Growing up with the blessing of so many siblings has been so fun. It's five extra best friends built in, so I would love that one day."
