Céline Dion is preparing for her highly-anticipated return to the limelight next month by taking some time for herself. The superstar is counting down to her stage comeback on 12 September, which will kick off her first set of live performances since her life-altering Stiff Person Syndrome diagnosis in 2022.
A month out from her concert residency in Paris, Céline shared she's been "finding beauty in the quietest of moments". The My Heart Will Go On songstress looked relaxed and rested as she spent time reconnecting with nature in a peaceful meadow.
A smiling Céline went au-naturel in bare-faced photos of her sitting on a picnic blanket in the middle of the mist-covered field. The star cut a casual figure in athleisure wear and had her hair swept up in a bun as she took in the tranquil scenery.
Céline's return to the stage
To mark her 58th birthday on 30 March, Céline delighted fans by announcing she's going back on tour for a series of concerts at the Paris La Défense Arena. The singer will perform 16 shows in September and October this year at the 40,000-seat venue before returning for more performances in May 2027.
"I'm so ready to do this," the singer said in a personal video message posted to social media. "I'm feeling good, I'm strong, I'm feeling excited, obviously, of course, a little nervous."
Céline said she was "doing great, managing my health, feeling good. I'm singing again, even doing a little bit of dancing."
"But I have to tell you something very important: Over these last few years, every day that's gone by, I felt your prayers and support, your kindness and love. Even in my most difficult times, you were there for me," she addressed her health struggles.
Devastating health diagnosis
While the star performed at the 2024 Olympics opening ceremony, it has been six years since she held a concert. Céline stepped back from performing and public life amid her ongoing health battle with a rare neurological and autoimmune disorder called Stiff Person Syndrome, which can cause painful muscle spasms and mobility struggles.
Speaking to Vogue France in May 2024, the singer recalled noticing years before her diagnosis that something was wrong with her voice during her 2008 Taking Chances world tour. "I was having trouble controlling it," she told the publication. "I could hit really high notes, but then it would go into these sort of spasms. I did what you're supposed to do in these cases: I went to see an ENT specialist."
The singer shared her heartbreaking diagnosis in December 2022 and documented her battle with the condition in her 2024 documentary I Am: Céline Dion.
