How time has flown by! Can you believe it's been 50 years since Charlie's Angels first aired and skyrocketed Kate Jackson and her fellow Angels to superstardom?
After finding fame on the series, Kate eventually stepped away from Hollywood for two decades, swapping the glitz and glamour of moviemaking for a quiet life on a farm in Virginia where she raised her son away from the spotlight. Nearly five decades since she wrapped the show that made her a household name, Kate is celebrating her 78th birthday on 29 October – and the actress looks ageless in recent photos.
Kate resurfaced for an ultra-rare reunion with her co-stars last month at the Primetime Emmy Awards in Los Angeles, still looking every inch the glamour queen in a timeless white pantsuit with a chic shoulder-length 'do.
The actress was beaming on stage alongside Cheryl Ladd and Jaclyn Smith as they presented the Outstanding Drama Series award for the night. The trio also took the opportunity to pay tribute to their late co-star, Farrah Fawcett, who passed away in 2009.
Earlier in the year, Kate returned to the public eye for the Paley Honors Spring Gala in New York City on 14 May, posing on the red carpet with her co-star and friend Jaclyn. The star had her chocolate brown locks styled for the event in the same bouncy bob she sported back in her Charlie's Angels years.
"I hadn't done anything like PaleyFest for 20 years, so I was really nervous leading up to it," she told People.
Why Kate left the industry
After leaving Charlie's Angels at the end of season three, Kate starred in Making Love and the series Scarecrow and Mrs. King for four seasons.
She then ended up stepping away from the limelight. Opening up about why she left the industry, Kate told Closer Magazine: "I'd had it with Hollywood's long hours, the politics, the backstabbing and the gossip."
"It was not a great town for having your feet on the ground and living a normal life."
She continued: "My life was all geared to work, even though those people around the country know me and like me, they aren't in my living room at the end of the day when I'm lonely and hassled."
Life away from Hollywood
Gushing about her rural life in Virginia, Kate told People: "I've got chickens, a couple of horses. Most of it's woods, but it's 128 acres and it's beautiful and it's quiet and peaceful."
"It's a good place for me, and I love being in the mountains."
In the same interview, Kate shared she's had acting and directing in mind. "Directing was really fun. I'm pretty darn good at it," she said.
