She may be stepping back from the spotlight, but Ariana Grande hard-launched her new bob on Monday, and the internet is besotted.
Taking to her Instagram account, the Petal hitmaker, 33, shared a 'photo dump' featuring a series of photos with her boyfriend and former backing dancer, Ricky Alvarez, 35, as well as a few more close-up shots of her fabulous new do.
One image saw the Eternal Sunshine singer with a ribbon choker around her neck - reminiscent of those worn by Golden Age Hollywood actress Audrey Hepburn as she pointed for the camera, her newly cropped locks stylishly flicked up at the ends.
Another saw Ariana with her head in the sink while her hair stylist rinsed her tresses, while a third shot showed the popstar giving a closer look at the ends of her locks with a candid mirror selfie.
It's safe to say that friends and fans of the star are delighted the bobbed locks are here to stay.
Rachel Zegler commented: "The bob is everything mommy." A second fan added: "I love the bob so much." Meanwhile, a third penned: "Obsessed with the bob."
Ariana soft-launches her new bob
The hard-launch of her new bob came one week after Ariana teased fans with a glimpse of her newly shortened locks in cryptic snaps on her Instagram feed, which were shared sideways.
"Rlly cute!!!!!" supermodel Gigi Hadid wrote, while Ariana's boyfriend, dancer Ricky Alvarez, added: "I wanna ask you out."
Another fan chimed in: "So beautiful!!!" while a fourth said: "It's bob [season]," and another exclaimed: "Love this hair!!" Ariana's bob was created by hairstylist Brandon Pietsch, who commented: "The ponytail is taking a hiatus."
Ariana's hair journey
From her natural brunette curls to a chic new bob, the Wicked star’s hairstyle changes have always made headlines.
As a child star, Ariana went cherry-red for Nickelodeon's Victorious before her rise to fame as a pop star, which saw her make the sleek, sky-high ponytail her trademark. In 2022, she eventually went platinum blonde upon being cast as Glinda in the big-screen adaptation of Wicked.
Reflecting on her blonde phase, she told Entertainment Tonight, "It's fun to play with the storytelling on the [Wicked] press tour."
"With the first press tour, I wanted to celebrate Glinda in a more on-the-nose way, and be an extension of her and extend the time with her through clothes, through the blonde and through everything."
"Now I can show up as the actress who played her and play into the darker tones of the movie. It's fun to play with hair and makeup and fashion," she said.
