A galaxy of stars turned out for the Louis Vuitton United Cancer Front charity gala on Monday night, with the fundraising event's star hosts, Frida's Salma Hayek and Oscar-winner Jennifer Connelly, leading the list of big Hollywood names supporting the cause.
While the third slated host for the evening, Renee Zellweger, was unable to attend, that didn't stop rugged Russell Crowe from doing his part for the evening, thanks to his special link to the trio of Tinseltown beauties.
"I have a personal connection to all three of the chairs, you see," he explained to US TV programme Entertainment Tonight. "I married Salma Hayek in a movie in 1995, I married Jennifer Connelly in a movie in 2001, and I will be marrying Renee Zellweger in March of next year – so I thought I'd best come and check on how my movie wives are doing."
For those unfamiliar with the two-time Academy Award winner's CV, the films in question are Breaking Up, A Beautiful Mind and the upcoming Cinderella Man.
Russell was all smiles at the gala, perhaps due to his status as a newlywed and expectant dad. The hunky Antipodean's real-life wife, actress Danielle Spencer, whom he wed earlier this year, is due to give birth to the couple's first child, a baby boy, in January.
