The delayed phone call that sparked Elettra Wiedemann's beautiful fashion wedding

When model Elettra Wiedemann gave her phone number to British restauranteur James Marshall, it took him six months to ring.

Luckily for the winsome brunette, who is the daughter of Italian actress Isabella Rossellini and former model Jonathan Wiedemann, he eventually plucked up the courage to pick up the phone. Five years after meeting at a London benefit, the duo celebrated their wedding with an all-night dance party held at the groom's New York restaurant, Whitehall.

This week, her designer pal tweeted a picture of the happy couple. She looked stunning in the dress which featured a short, Swarovski-encrusted skirt that showed off her shapely figure, while still allowing her to retain a radiant bridal glow.

Fittingly, Elettra, 29, chose a cocktail frock by fashion designer Giambattista Valli, the friend who orginally introduced them.

The celebrations followed an intimate ceremony attended by 40 of their close friends and family, for which the bride wore a simple white gown by Dominican designer Miguelina. Plenty of thoughtful, personal details provided a special touch. A bouquet of peonies had been wrapped in the Wiedemann family lace, which had been in every Wiedemann wedding for four generations, and a Swedish princess cake was brought out in honour of Elettra’s Stockholm-born Oscar-winning grandmother Ingrid Bergman.

As a final flourish, James, 38, gave his new wife a framed scrap of paper that she had originally written her phone number on the day they met.

The gesture brought a tear to her eyes and the memento now hangs in their living room.

Both of the rings were from Tiffany’s, picked out while Elettra, who is also a spokesperson for Lancome, was shooting their ad campaign. And a photo booth was set up in the back with American flag and Union Jack flags to allow guests to take fun snaps of the day.
