How Kim Sears became the new fashion darling of Wimbledon

Wimbledon has a stylish new queen of the court — Kim Sears. With pregnant Kate Middleton absent from this year's tennis championship as she awaits the arrival of her baby, fashion followers were left wondering who would fill her well-heeled shoes. With impeccable timing, and a swish of her glossy hair, Kim has stepped into the spotlight.

Andy Murray's pretty girlfriend has been emerging as a style favourite for years now, but in 2013 has really upped her game — and it's been hard to tear our eyes away from her cute floral dresses and Mulberry handbags to watch the on-court action.

Kim's winning Wimbledon style is not dissimilar to that favoured by the Duchess. Her Kate-esque locks aside, Kim likes to mix designer labels with high street items — making her chic style totally affordable. And she's not afraid to recycle her favourite pieces, wearing the same wooden platforms on Monday that she wore last year.

So far at the 2013 Championships, Kim has showcased bold colours, on-trend prints, chic totes and summery wedges to take the Wimbledon style mantle from Kate. Her court-side look is all about Mulberry leather (both she and Andy attend the Burberry show London Fashion Week every year) and relaxed sun dresses, a winning formula she has refined over the years.

For her very first appearance at Wimbledon in 2008, Kim championed understated and comfortable clothing, choosing floral prints, cardigans and boho shirts. Twelve months on, and she favoured nautical stripes and floral prints, before adopting a similar style to fashion icon Kate in 2011, choosing shift dresses with clean lines, block colours and fitted blazers.

Kim set the style stakes high when she made her first 2013 Wimbledon appearance in a blue £79.99 Zara blazer, dark denim jeans and her beloved new nude Mulberry Willow bag.

Other highlights include the sunny yellow Ted Baker dress and denim jacket she wore two days later, and she delivered another ace with the floral Zara dress she wore to see Andy play Mikhail Youzhny — the pretty summer frock has already sold out.

As the nations crosses its fingers for tennis star Andy during Friday's semi-final, eyes will also be on his long-term girlfriend Kim, who will no doubt serve up another style hit.
