Queen Mary of Denmark looked resplendent in her latest ensemble for the Hubertus hunt. In images shared on the Danish Royal Family's official Instagram account, the 54-year-old wore a heritage-printed outfit that reminded us of something the Princess of Wales has worn.
Accompanied by a stream of stunning images, the caption explained the importance of the hunt, remarking: "With two fox tails in front and 32 obstacles on the route, this year's Hubertus hunt was ridden in Dyrehaven. Thousands of spectators had found their way to the forest north of Copenhagen, and among them was Her Majesty the Queen, who followed the run out along the route and from the two balconies at the Hermitage Castle.
"The tradition goes back to 1900 and, with some exceptions, has been kept alive ever since. The Hubertusjagten continues the old parforce hunts that Dyrehaven was built in its time. On the star-shaped path system, foxes were allowed to dust up while the field followed. Today, the fox has been replaced with fox tails on two experienced riders riding in the front.
The hunt is a blood-free sport; the 'fox' is a veteran rider wearing a mock tail.
Mary donned a brown, button-up jacket which was layered over a chic, tailored shirt. She added a tartan midi skirt in a plethora of brown and green hues, and finished the outfit with a feather-trimmed hat.
The Princess of Wales' heritage-led fashion ethos
The trusty tartan print has returned for AW26, nodding to the heritage trend that we often see our favourite royal ladies embrace. The Princess of Wales has a huge collection of tartan pieces - in fact, it's her most-worn print aside from polka dots.
Last month, Catherine arrived in Belfast and seemingly took a leaf out of the late Queen Elizabeth II's style book, donning a colour associated with the Emerald Isle. The late monarch often incorporated national emblems or colours into her outfits, paying tribute to the country she was visiting.
Catherine chose an elegant green tartan pleated skirt by favourite British designer Emilia Wickstead. She added a striking white ruffle blouse and layered up the look with a black coat by Alexander McQueen, cinched together with a large buckle belt. The royal also carried a green handbag by Mulberry - the 'Small Amberley Satchel'.
The Princess of Wales' feather-trimmed hat
Queen Mary's latest hat looked just like Catherine's fedora. Prince William's wife is often seen donning her Hicks & Brown's 'Suffolk Fedora with Gamebird Feather' in dark brown for various royal appearances.
A favourite of Catherine's, she also has the same style in a bold, bright blue. The mother-of-three memorably wore the hat in 2020 while attending Sunday service at the Church of St Mary Magdalene on the Sandringham estate.
