The Princess of Wales is a master of seasonal dressing, embracing a myriad of darker shades when the weather changes. Although a bright, pumpkin-style orange isn't one of her immediate go-to tones, she stepped out in one of her brightest looks yet in 2023.

Prince William's wife memorably visited Foxcubs Nursery in Luton, as part of her ongoing work to elevate the importance of early childhood to lifelong outcomes.

Sporting the eye-catching ensemble, in the form of a resplendent orange knitted jumper and skirt by Gabriela Hearst, the royal gave the illusion of wearing a jumper dress. Breaking up the co-ord in style, she added a chunky black belt by Ralph Lauren and black boots. Gabriela Hearst is a brand loved by fellow royal ladies Princess Eugenie and Meghan Markle.

The two-piece gave her a timeless silhouette, and as separates, these pieces are highly versatile and can be switched up to create a plethora of outfit choices. It's also a fabulous Halloween-style look, too.

Dressing for Halloween when you're an adult can be quite the task - particularly if you don't want to dress up as a witch or ghoul. Catherine's option is a great way to subtly nod to the event without going overboard. It can also be worn during other periods of the year too - the royal donned this look in January, months after Halloween.

Why doesn't the Princess of Wales wear orange often?

HELLO! previously spoke to colour analyst Gabriella Winters of Chromology UK, who has more than ten years of personal colour analysis experience. On her thoughts on why the royal doesn't often embrace this tone, she quipped: "I think the answer lies in DNA and Kate's awareness of how certain colours [are] less flattering compared to other colours."

Orange isn't a colour we see Catherine wearing often

She continued: "People absorb and reflect the same colours differently depending on their unique biological makeup. When a colour is placed adjacent to your face, it will reflect its wavelength onto you. Notably, wearing certain colours can make you appear healthier, with more radiant-looking skin, and those that complement the colour of your eyes or hair can make them 'pop' even more."
