Amal Clooney was on fashionable form as she headed to work on Monday. The human rights lawyer, who is married to Hollywood actor George Clooney, chose an elegant low-key suit for a conference in London regarding one of her high-profile cases.

The 37-year-old was spotted braving the British weather as she stepped out in the chic tailored black pinstriped blazer and matching cropped trousers, paired with a white blouse.

Always going the extra style mile, Amal accessorised her ensemble with a pair of nude stilettos from Paul Andrew and carried her papers in a striking black leather handbag.

The style icon has just returned from a trip to New York, where she and George celebrated their first wedding anniversary.

The stylish lawyer turned heads in a bright green dress

Amal has been turning heads in the Big Apple in a series of colourful ensemble as she and her husband have enjoyed a series of nights out. There's no doubt that she has been upping the style stakes in a series of brightly coloured ensembles.

She recently won plaudits for the showstopping bright green dress by Versace which she chose to wear when accompanying George to a screening of O Brother, Where Art Thou?, the film for which the actor picked up a Golden Globe back in 2001.

Amal also topped best-dressed lists last week when she stepped out in a striking red tweed Dolce & Gabbana gown while running errands.

It's been a busy year for both George and Amal with their hectic work schedules – but that hasn't stopped them from spending as much time together as possible. George, 54, recently opened up about the couple's first year of marriage, revealing it was "fun".

"We sure are having fun," the Ocean's Eleven star told People a few days after his wedding anniversary. "We had a beautiful anniversary, and we're having fun."
