Jonathan Saunders closes label

The shock reverberated around the fashion world as news broke that Jonathan Saunders is closing his label.The British designer, who has been in business for 12 years, has taken the decision to close his eponymous brand.

The announcement was made on Monday morning, with Jonathan and his business partner Eiesha Bharti Pasricha stating that the decision was down to personal reasons."It is not a decision that I take lightly and I am eternally grateful to my team for all their hard work and dedication," read a statement.

"Eiesha has not only been a fantastic partner over the last year but an incredible support and we remain close. I am very thankful for all of the friends that I have across the industry, and I looked forward to working with everyone again soon on future creative projects.""I have thoroughly enjoyed supporting one of the most talented British designers of our times," Eiesha added. "Our decision to part ways was not easy and I wish Jonathan every success for the future."

The company will be honouring orders from the spring/summer 2016 collection.

Jonathan studied at Glasgow's prestigious School of Art and at London's Central Saint Martin's before opening his eponymous label.

He has enjoyed many successes during his time as a designer, including dressing Michelle Obama, Sienna Miller and Samantha Cameron.

He has also worked with Alexander McQueen, Christian Lacroix at Pucci and Pheobe Philo at Chloe.
