Saint Laurent's spring/summer 2018 collection was unveiled underneath the Eiffel Tower in Paris on Tuesday night. Celebrating the French label's heritage, creative director Anthony Vaccarello chose the iconic landmark as the destination for his latest show, held as part of Paris Fashion Week, and drawing in celebrity names such as Lenny Kravitz, Courtney Love, Robin Wright and Kate Moss.
The presentation opened with a model wearing an army-green miniskirt, gold chiffon shirt, and black blazer with gold piping on the pockets. A bohemian aesthetic was evident in a procession of floaty peasant-style tops and slouchy shorts, either accessorised with gold jewellery or made from fabrics with metallic flecks.

While Vaccarrello's signature silhouettes, the one-shouldered minidress and jumpsuit with plunging neckline, were offered up in colourful jacquard fabrics heavy on gold accents. An avant-garde feel was apparent in a strapless black velvet dress with finely embroidered floral details which featured an unusual scalloped neckline, as well as loose separates and floaty tops.
It seems a modern Saint Laurent girl will need to be prepared to try out black leather trousers too, as several models showed off the style, while lace-up high heels were also a key accessory throughout the line.
For the men, Vaccarello designed sharp monochromatic suits which were worn with sheer shirts printed with vibrant patterns or tiger stripes.

And when it came to the eveningwear section of the evening, there was a focus on bubble hems and voluminous sleeves, many of which were accessorised with feather trim. For instance, model Kaia Gerber rocked the runway in a bubble-like black strapless dress accessorised with sheer tights and black satin high heels.
Yet, fashion wasn't the only focus at the show, and Vaccarello also paid tribute to Yves Saint Laurent brand co-founder Pierre Berge, who died earlier this month.
A card was placed on each seat with a quote from a letter Berge wrote to Laurent after his death in 2008, and read, "Maybe this is crazy love. The love of two madmen."
