Rita Ora and Dakota Johnson have both been pictured wearing the same, longline jacket from luxury high-end brand Fay. The coat in question is double breasted and oversized in size, boasting clean lines, flap pockets, statement buttons, and a vibrant, check-print. The jacket in question retails at £1050, and is currently available online, on the brand’s website.

Both Rita and Dakota chose to style the jacket in very different ways. Rita wore the item as a coat dress, with a classic white printed shirt underneath, sunglasses and bold statement drop earrings. She also added ankle socks and pristine Reebok trainers, and finished the bold look with a Chanel bumbag which, like the check coat, is a huge trend for this Autumn/Winter. She had a fun, flirty take on the look and made it her own, sporting bare legs.

Dakota showcased the jacket slightly differently, whilst still working the casual look. She wore the coat over cropped Girlfriend jeans, which had a distressed hem, with a simple white t-shirt, and an abundance of black accessories, including loafers, wayfarer sunglasses and a Givenchy chain-trimmed shoulder bag.

Checks of all kinds are a huge trend this season, appearing throughout many designer collections, including Calvin Klein, J.W Anderson, and Joseph. It’s easy to embrace the trend, particularly in coat form, which you can wear over the top of a casual outfit for an instant update. Or, you could try wearing the print with contrasting floral prints for an artist clash. Checks work well in slightly more muted tones, particularly grey. The Prince of Wales check especially is a coveted look this season, and is seen all over the high street as well as designer stores. It fits in with the ladylike look of the moment, especially if paired with a simple white shirt and black tailored trousers.
