The Duchess of Edinburgh looked like a royal Barbie on Monday as she stepped out on day one of the 2026 Chelsea Flower Show. Duchess Sophie, 61, attended with her husband, Prince Edward, and opted for a candy pink look that was perfect for spring/summer.
The royal wore two pieces from Theory, as identified by Royal Fashion Police on Instagram, the brand's 'Oaklane Admiral Cape Trench Coat in Blush Pink', which retails for £595, and the £315 'Belt-Loop Slip-Pocket Wool Trousers'.
Styling a Barbie look the royal way
The trench featured a tie-waist belt, which Sophie removed for a more streamlined look, and the wide-leg cut of her trousers also helped create an elongated silhouette.
Underneath, the Duchess added the 'California' shirt by Soler London, which featured a bright pattern and a collared neck. It seems to be a favourite of Sophie's of late, as she also wore it with a corduroy pencil skirt on day three of The Royal Windsor Horse Show over the weekend.
For the Flower Show, Sophie dressed down her ensemble with wedge espadrilles by Penelope Chilvers and a new bag from Radley, the 'Golborne' style, featuring raffia sides.
Sophisticated styling
"What a perfect palette for the Flower Show – soft, feminine and utterly seasonal," Leanne Jones, a fashion stylist who trained at the London College of Fashion, tells us.
"The colour‑blocking of the Theory trousers with the matching coat is modern and confident, while the floral Soler shirt adds a playful, romantic note – a lovely rewear.
"It's great to see the royals championing homegrown labels (we've seen the Princess of Wales in Soler before) and this outfit strikes a smart balance between elegance and approachable style."
Pretty in pink
It's not the first time Sophie has worn soft pink hues to the Chelsea Flower Show – and these soft, feminine colours are perfect for the occasion. In 2022, she stepped out wearing an apt rose-coloured Victoria Beckham suit featuring wide-leg trousers and a double-breasted blazer.
Bright pink also suits Sophie. Last June, the royal attended day two of Royal Ascot wearing a custom version of Suzannah London's 'Trixie' dress, with billowing short sleeves and a full white skirt featuring hot pink flowers.
Amping up the look, she added a fuchsia flower-adorned percher hat and an envelope clutch to match.
