These days Tom Cruise’s estranged wife Nicole Kidman seems to have come to terms with her single status. Which is probably a good thing, as the Mission Impossible star has gone out of his way to emphasize in the divorce papers that reconciliation with the Australian actress is completely out of the question.
It is believed that the Moulin Rouge star tried to persuade her Scientologist husband to join her in marriage counselling.
“Irreconcilable differences have arisen between Nicole and me,” states Tom in the official court documents. “I do not believe professional counselling or the assistance of any mental health professional, lapse of time or any other factor will change this breakdown.”
A fast-track divorce petition was signed last week with the divorce becoming final on August 8. The Top Gun actor has said he wants a speedy split to allow all parties, including the couple’s two adopted children, Isabella, eight, and six-year-old Conor “to move on with our lives emotionally”.
While Nicole agreed to the quick dissolution of their ten-year marriage, she is apparently not so comfortable with Tom’s new relationship with his Vanilla Sky co-star Penelope Cruz, who he has been dating for several weeks. The 27-year-old Spanish actress was recently photographed boarding Tom’s private plane as the couple set off for a short break along with his kids, and has moved into one of the LA homes owned by the star.
