Dressed in Goth-rock black, Jennifer Aniston showed up at the premiere of her latest movie, Rock Star, on the arm of the man who had originally turned down the lead role – husband Brad Pitt!

As the petite Friends star rocked up to the Village Theatre in Hollywood, her husband looked the part of the role that he gave the thumbs down to. In purple leather, Brad sported tinted shades and more than a few days’ stubble, wowing the crowds as he stepped onto the red carpet to help promote his wife’s new film, which is produced by his buddy George Clooney.

Rock Star, which opens in US cinemas this weekend, is the story of how a regular guy from Pittsburgh, played by Planet Of The Apes star Mark Wahlberg, becomes the singer of heavy metal band Steel Dragon, after he is spotted singing his heart out in the front row of their gig. When their frontman leaves the group in a huff, the remaining band members hunt the fan down and make him an offer he can’t refuse.

Brad had signed on to do the project before Jennifer was on board, but later pulled out when a director couldn’t be found for the movie. The movie’s screenwriter John Stockwell said: “Brad really is a metalhead from Missouri, and I think part of him was completely absorbed in playing this character.”And perhaps Jen didn’t find it too hard to relate to the obsessive fans of the pop world, as she admits to sleeping outside a hotel nearly 20 years ago in order to meet Duran Duran singer Simon Le Bon. “Brad and I ran into Simon a couple of months ago,” she explained. “I see Brad going, ‘Dude! You gotta come here.’

“I walk over and Simon was standing right there,” continues the pretty actress, who is currently growing her hair back into its trademark layered style. “I was like, ‘Oh my God’. Then I went up and said, ‘I waited outside a hotel for you.’ I think he thought we were nuts.”
