Oasis star Noel Gallagher and ex-wife Meg Mathews' former Belsize Park mansion was a hot spot on the party circuit thanks to bashes attended by famous names from Liz Hurley to Kate Moss. But now the home, which was dubbed Supernova Heights, looks set to fall into the hands of one of the celebrity world's most low-key couples – Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin.

The two are said to be keen to buy the £3.5 million home, now owned by former Hollyoaks actress Davinia Taylor, which has three storeys, its own recording studio and a gym. "They want to settle in London both for work and because a lot of their friends are based there," said an insider. "This place is perfect for them. It's got a lot of room, which is ideal for having a family, is secure and obviously is great for parties."

Gwyneth recently acknowledged her future plans include treading the boards in the capital city. "My father dying, turning 30 and doing some movies that I wasn't happy with – such as A View From The Top – has led me to re-evaluate my career," she said. "Now I don't feel pressure to do movies that are just about making money, so I am going to do some more London theatre."
