Carolyn Jones starred as Morticia, the Addams family matriarch

Sitting in her signature woven peacock chair or gliding across the floor in a long black gown, Carolyn Jones brought The Addams Family's matriarch to life in the '60s series.

But without her long, black tresses and handkerchief-hem maxi dress, it's difficult to recognise the goth icon as the '60s star.

John Astin played Gomez, Morticia's besotted husband

John Astin

John Astin formed the other half of goth television's most beloved couple, Morticia and Gomez, as the family's patriarch and a besotted husband.

Even with his signature moustache, John and Gomez seem like completely separate characters when the former isn't wearing his signature pinstripe suit.

With a droopy, claw-like fringe and heavy-set eyes, Lurch was always on call to help the core family as their live-in butler. His signature frown was only occasionally swapped for a smile, marking him as the gloomiest member of the household.

But without his monster makeup, Ted Cassidy's leading man jawline and charming grin made him unrecognisable from the dour on-screen '60s staple.

Wednesday's child is full of woe, but Lisa was a regular child off screen

Lisa Loring

Lisa Loring starred in the first season of The Addams Family at just six years old, playing precocious Addams daughter Wednesday – complete with her signature pigtail braids.

Without her more serious expression, Lisa was just like any other '60s child and would surely avoid any double takes away from set.

Jackie Coogan brought the unconventional Uncle Fester to life in the '60s series, complete with his dark, shadowed eyes and long black overcoat.

But away from the screen, he was a regular charmer – even sporting a head of hair and, later in the decade, a Gomez-worthy moustache.
