Eva Mendes picks up lacy lingerie in New York

If the effect she had on Will Smith's character in Hitch is anything to go by, Eva Mendes doesn't have to try very hard to leave her male colleagues feeling hot under the collar. The Texan beauty has been adding a little extra spice to her underwear drawer, though, by picking up some sexy lingerie at Victoria's Secret in New York.

In last year's blockbuster movie, the actress played the headstrong journalist who leaves a normally-unflappable dating coach feeling distinctly unsettled by spurning his romantic advances. And in real-life the actress is equally uninterested in potential suitors, as she is totally committed to her director boyfriend George Gargurevich.

Despite her sultry Latin looks, Eva says she has perfected the art of keeping admirers at bay. "I give out a very 'I'm taken' vibe when I'm out on my own, so it's very rare that a man will just come up to me and ask me out," she says. "Whether it's the way I'm dressing or how I'm looking around and having eye contact with people. There are all these non-verbal things that I like to do to keep them away."

She's obviously not averse to turning up the heat with her leading man, though. Stylishly dressed in a red patterned coat and olive cap, the 32-year-old picked out a substantial selection of lacy goodies before heading for the cash register on Wednesday afternoon.
