With Christmas less than a fortnight away, the people of New York are firmly in the grips of festive fever. And one person who seems to be thoroughly enjoying the seasonal celebrations which the Big Apple is famous for is Aussie actress Naomi Watts, who spent Wednesday morning charming fans outside the Rockefeller Centre.

The King Kong star went along to help out at the Today Show's annual toy drive. With an outsize red sack slung over her shoulder, she collected gifts from a large throng of fans who'd gone along to make donations.

Presents and financial contributions gathered at the yearly event are used to distribute Christmas gifts to disadvantaged youngsters across America. Last year the effort provided $36 million worth of goodies to three million children, and organisers are hoping to break their record this time around.

Naomi, who's 38, also confessed she's hoping to be buying festive treats for a baby of her own one day. "I'm a woman, I certainly think about that all the time," admitted the pretty performer, who is dating American actor Liev Schreiber. "I'm very aware of my age and of my timing."
