Adam Lambert kicked off the night, performing Somebody To Love with Queen, before the contestants joined them on stage. Next to perform was Union J, who returned to the show for the first time since they competed in 2012, performing their latest single, You’ve Got It All.

Dermot O’Leary announced the votes were in and it would be Stereo Kicks and Lauren Platt in the sing-off.

Before the acts battled to stay in the competition, former X Factor contestant, Ella Henderson performed Yours.

Lauren Platt first took to the stage to perform I Know Where I’ve Been from the musical Hairspray before Stereo Kicks sang an emotional version of Jason Mraz’s I Won’t Give Up.

When deciding who would stay in the competition, Louis Walsh saved Lauren while Mel B controversially Cheryl Fernandez-Versini’s act home. Meanwhile Cheryl admitted she was confused as to why some judges had changed their minds “all of a sudden” after weeks of supporting her act, before saving Lauren.

When Simon Cowell  decided to send home Stereo Kicks, the votes went to deadlock and it was decided that the eight-piece boy band would be leaving the competition.

Tune in next Saturday at 8pm on ITV for more X Factor drama.
