Calling all police drama fans! The hit Canadian police procedural, Allegiance, returns with its second season in June. If, like me, you're looking for a gripping police series to keep you hooked whilst you await the new season of Line of Duty, you might want to check it out.

The story follows the life of Sabrina Sohal, a rookie police officer navigating the high-pressure world of the Canadian Federal Police Corps' Serious Crimes Unit. The drama explores the pressures faced by a new recruit in law enforcement, as well as themes of identity politics and racism.

In season one, Sabrina's world is turned upside down when her father, Ajeet Sohal, the Minister of Public Safety, is wrongfully arrested for treason. As she works to prove his innocence, she battles the limits of the justice system.

After its US release, the series became CBC's most-watched new series of 2023-24 and received eight Canadian Screen Award nominations, including Best Drama Series.

Keep reading to find out more about season two, which arrives on U&alibi in June.

What to expect from season two

Billed as a "gripping crime thriller," the second series follows Sabrina Sohal (Supinder Wraich), a driven young officer working for the CFPC's Serious Crimes Unit.

With just six months to prove she belongs, Sabrina is immediately tested when she's paired with a newly transferred, seasoned detective whose radically different policing style puts their alliance under strain from the start.

The synopsis continues: "Determined, fearless and uncompromising, Sabrina is more than a rookie finding her feet. Secretly, she's on a personal mission to expose the truth behind the false treason charges that destroyed her father's life, a pursuit that could cost her everything she's working to build.

"As the series unfolds, Sabrina is pulled in conflicting directions: loyalty to a flawed police force, devotion to a family divided by opposing values, deep ties to the community that shaped her, and an unexpected, forbidden romance that must remain hidden. Every decision forces her to choose where her allegiance truly lies."

Who stars in Allegiance?

Supinder Wraich (Sort Of) leads the cast as Sabrina Sohal, alongside Stephen Lobo (Killbird) as Ajeet Sohal and Enrico Colantoni (English Teacher) as Vincent Brambilla.

They're joined by Adolyn H. Dar (The Expanse) as Ishaan Sohal and Samer Salem (The Expanse) as Det. Zak Kalaini.
