What is Alice and Steve about?

Billed as an "outrageously witty wrong-com," the series follows longtime besties, Alice and Steve, whose rock-solid, 30-year friendship is pushed to its limits when Steve starts dating Alice's 26-year-old daughter Izzy.

Alice goes to extreme lengths to end their relationship but unfortunately for her, Steve's more than ready for the attack.

The synopsis continues: "What begins as a perfect friendship devolves into an all-out feud."

"A hilarious, messy, and complicated exploration of friendship, family, and love, Alice and Steve is an anti-romantic comedy that asks the question, how far would you go for love - or revenge? Will Alice forgive Steve? Will Steve and Izzy make a relationship work? Amongst all the questions hanging in the balance, one thing is certain; their lives will never be the same again."

On why she decided to take on the role, Nicola told HELLO!: "I love all of the women I've played. Then when Alice came through, I thought, well, I haven't really played someone like her. That was the main draw. And the writing is so incredibly good. It was a bit of a no-brainer actually."

What have viewers said about the show?

Viewers have been full of praise for the show on social media, with one person hailing it as a "great" watch.

Another fan penned: "I loved the wicked humour & friends to enemies about turn. Emotional warfare is funny & the love/hate between these two is epic," while another praised Jemaine's performance, adding: "Loved this show hoping to see more of Jemaine Clement. His deadpan delivery is brilliant to watch."

What have TV critics said about the show?

The comedy has received mixed reviews from critics, with The Guardian describing the "icky comedy" as "dated and wrong" in its two-star review, while The Telegraph also handed out two stars and reiterated the sentiment, stating that "the heart of the show is just too icky to ignore".
