Brand new upcoming autumn TV shows to snuggle up to - from a TV expert

What a quintessentially British, warm bath of a show this is! Now in season seven, the characters return to the veterinary surgery in the Yorkshire Dales for more low-stakes drama, including the arrival of a rival vet. I'm already clutching my pearls at the thought!

Sexy, melodramatic, and with gorgeous Scottish Highland scenery as far as the eye can see, Outlander always makes me want to wrap myself up in some tartan in front of a roaring fire - and the spin-off series is no different. If you haven't checked it out yet, the prequel looks at the romance of both Jamie and Claire's respective parents before their births. It is a gorgeous, aptly romantic follow-up to the original, and well worth a cosy watch!

Nigella Lawson has arrived! The iconically adorable baking show has had a reinvention by introducing a new judge after Prue Leith bowed out - and I can't wait to see what Nigella is like in the famous Bake Off tent. Will she have her version of a Paul Hollywood handshake? A Nigella nudge, perhaps? Whatever her style, I'm excited to fall in love with a new cast of amateur bakers again!

I couldn't be more excited to dust off my cloak and root for team Traitors (as I invariably always do) in the new celebrity version of the smash-hit BBC series. This time, the likes of Michael Sheen, Richard E. Grant, and Bella Ramsey will be taking on the hit parlour game, alongside a host of comedy talent, singers, and Ross Kemp. With plenty of laughs, gasps, and scrolling on our phones during the tasks (we all do it), the show is going to be a plan-cancelling event for weeks to come!

If action-packed thrillers are more your thing, check out Catherine Zeta-Jones' new offering about a former drug dealer who discovers that she has a hit on her, and does what it takes to eliminate the assassins determined to kill her by returning to a criminal world she had long left behind. Gripping stuff for anyone who needs something more action-packed than whether someone's cake has a soggy bottom!

Sienna Miller and Dominic West star in a divorce drama about a high-society couple, with their acrimonious split leading to dirty tactics from both parties and resulting in explosive fallout. Perfect for anyone who finishes The Split Up early!

Ready for another superhero series? I know they can get a little tired, but honestly, I'll always have time for Vision, and this series is very much all about him as the humanoid genius returns as White Vision, hoping to regain his own memories and return to his humanity once again. If this one is anything like WandaVision, it'll be a different and triumphant telling from the superhero universe - and I'm excited to see how they do it.

Okay, here's one for the horror fans. A prequel to Friday the 13th, Linda Cardellini plays Pamela Voorhees, avenging the death of her son, Jason. Oh yeah, that Jason. With all the clever thrills and chills from horror movies and TV shows nowadays, sometimes you just need a good old-fashioned slasher horror. Sorry, Obsession.

My parasocial relationship with The Rings of Power returns in full force come November. This time, our return to Middle-earth sees Sauron tightening his grip on the fantasy world in his attempts to forge the One Ring while elves, men, and dwarves attempt to stop him in his tracks. 

This sumptuous show is so gorgeously made, and season two was so epic and brilliantly written, I just wish that the seasons were closer together in time - as honestly I've forgotten most of what happens in the first two - but rest assured one good 'previously on' segment and my obsession will be akin to Sméagol with the ring - will you be watching?
