How is it November already? With Christmas just around the corner, we have one last chance for some excellent TV shows before they become covered with tinsel and good cheer, and this month has come up with the goods! From the return of a popular spy thriller to the latest update on the One Ring to Rule Them All, here are my top picks of shows to watch in November…

Black Doves (Season 2) – 5 November, Netflix

I recently attended the launch event for Black Doves season two, in which drones took over the Thames to recreate moments from the show, including Ben Whishaw drinking a coffee and a fully realised car driving through the sky.

In short, I don’t think Netflix is scrimping on promoting Black Doves season two - and for good reason! Keira Knightley and Ben Whishaw are joined by One Day star Ambika Mod in the second instalment of this clever and gripping spy drama, and it looks as action-packed and full of fun as the first series as Helen and Sam unite once more to protect the people they love.

Rivals (Season 2, Part 2) – 11 November, Disney+

Was it unnecessary to split season two? Yes. Did it interrupt the momentum of an otherwise great series? Yes. Despite all of that, falling under Rivals’ spell once again is easy and irresistible. Part two deals with the devastating fall out of the midseason’s finale, with rivalries and romances more intense than ever and introducing a few exciting new faces.

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power (Season 3) – 11 November, Prime Video

The Rings of Power has certainly been divisive with fans, but personally I enjoyed season one, absolutely adored season two, and my only criticism of the show is just how long it takes for them to turn production around.

Two years after the season two finale, we are back with Galadriel and Elrond at the height of war between Sauron and Elves - and I couldn’t be more excited!

The Good Daughter

The Good Daughter – 12 November, Sky / NOW

Platonic star Rose Byrne and The White Lotus’ Meghann Fahy co-star as lawyer sisters who reunite when a school shooting brings up past trauma. An adaptation of Karin Slaughter’s crime thriller, this is perfect for anyone who loves a gripping crime caper.

Cunk on Cinema – 12 November, BBC Two / BBC iPlayer

If there is one thing that we can all agree on, it’s that Philomena Cunk is the best - and she is back with a new ‘Cunk’ - this time all about one of my favourite things, movies! Featuring Benedict Cumberbatch and Michael Bay as two of Cunk’s interviewees, I can’t wait to see her capers into La La Land - while learning about cinema along the way, of course!

12 12 12 stars Anthony Mackie and Jamie Dornan

12 12 12 – 13 November, Apple TV+

Apple TV+, back at it again with incredible casts and brilliant shows that always seem to fly under the radar.

Starring Jamie Dornan and Anthony Mackie, the story follows a cat-and-mouse caper all set around a heist which takes 12 months to plan, 12 hours to execute - and with 12 days for the perpetrator to be caught. With a very cool premise and an even better cast, I can’t wait to check it out.

Honey – 14 November, BBC One / BBC iPlayer

By the creators of Killing Eve, this whip-smart series follows Martha Schmitt, an agent who wants to prove that she is more than the boring tasks that she is assigned while undercover in Berlin, and becomes embroiled in a love triangle in the process.

I absolutely loved this when I saw it at an early screening, and can’t wait to see how it all plays out.

Sweetpea (season 2) – 26 November, Sky / NOW

Our wallflower serial killer is back for another season of very justifiable murders. In season two, Rhiannon is enjoying a new promotion, is on a rebound from the boy who she checks notes murdered, and is worrying about a copycat killer who has nothing whatsoever to do with her. So who is copying her crimes? We’ll be tuning in to find out!
