Netflix has dropped the official trailer for its upcoming thriller, Trinity, starring Richard Madden and Gugu Mbatha-Raw – and if you love high-octane dramas about dangerous conspiracies, you'll want to mark your calendars for December 1.
The seven-part series follows a naval commander whose newfound bond with the secretary of defense catapults her into a world of political intrigue and danger.
The show comes from Jed Mercurio, the mastermind behind the smash hit BBC police thriller Line of Duty – so it's safe to say viewers are in for a gripping watch.
It also marks a reunion for Jed and Richard Madden, who previously collaborated on the acclaimed 2018 political thriller Bodyguard, in which Richard starred alongside Keeley Hawes.
With less than a month until the show's release, find out everything we know so far.
What is Trinity about?
The series follows Commander Katherine Decker (Mbatha-Raw), second-in-command aboard the USS Kansas, a nuclear submarine. When she forms an unlikely bond with Secretary of Defense Webb Preston (Madden), she finds herself drawn into "dangerous machinations surrounding a top-secret program code-named Trinity," according to the synopsis.
Creator Jed said the series blends "high-octane action with a nail-biting conspiracy thriller."
Opening up about the inspiration behind the project, Jed shared his longstanding love of thrillers. "One of my all-time favorites is No Way Out," he told Tudum. "I wanted to create an action thriller set around the Pentagon with a high-stakes conspiracy to challenge a heroic naval officer."
Who else stars in Trinity?
Joining Richard and Gugu in the cast are Marcia Gay Harden (So Help Me Todd), JD Pardo (Mayans M.C., High Potential), Bruce Greenwood (Fall of the House of Usher, The Resident), Robert Wisdom (Barry, Terminal List) and Kirk Acevedo (Lioness, Band of Brothers).
Rounding out the cast are Ben Cotton (The Night Agent, Harper's Island), James Remar (It: Welcome to Derry, Dexter: Resurrection), Jason Ralph (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, The Magicians) and Mark O'Brien (City on a Hill, Ready or Not).
Trinity arrives on Netflix on 1 December.
