In the close-up snap, Britney rocks tumbling wavy blonde tresses worn in a half updo, a stark contrast to her natural blonde bob. She has added a touch of extra glamour to her look, opting for stunning dark smokey eye make-up and nude lips, one of the season's biggest beauty trends.

"Having long hair in winter is a month," the Baby One More Time hitmaker advised her 6.7 million followers in the caption accompanying the photo.

The star has been rocking a short bob in recent months

Although the Oops! I Did It Again songstress' natural hair is a short bob, it seems that Britney has been after a makeover, regularly stepping out with hair extensions for a longer style that falls past her shoulders.

As well as trying out a new look, there's no doubt that Britney has been getting into the festive spirit. On Wednesday the singer proudly shared videos of her two sons, Jayden and Sean, as they took part in a Christmas nativity play at school. "My beautiful boys," she wrote in the caption alongside the sweet clip.

It's been an exciting few weeks for the star who has not only been preparing for Christmas, but who also celebrated her birthday at the start of the month.

Britney celebrated her birthday earlier this month

Thanking her fans for their birthday messages, the pop star shared a photo of herself celebrating with a teacup-themed party, sat down at the table laid out like a tea party with a pink and grey theme. Britney herself was beaming, wrapped up warm in a fluffy grey dressing gown and holding a toy star-shaped wand.

"Thank you so much for all the birthday wishes today!" she wrote. "I loved reading them just as much as I loved my teacup cake."
