Vanessa Trump has given a rare update on her cancer journey, three weeks after announcing she had been diagnosed with breast cancer. "Over the past four weeks, I’ve been recovering from surgery, and I’m grateful to be healing and moving forward," Vanessa shared on social media; it remains unclear what kind of surgery Vanessa had.

"Soon, I’ll be starting the second stage of my treatment," the mother-of-five continued, writing: "Sending love, strength, and hope to everyone fighting this battle."

On May 20, 2026, Vanessa, the former daughter-in-law of President Donald Trump, revealed that she had recently been diagnosed with breast cancer and was "working closely with my medical team on a treatment plan".

"I would like to thank my doctors for performing a procedure earlier this week on me," the 48-year-old shared, before adding that she is "staying focused and hopeful while surrounded by the love and support of my family, my kids, and those closest to me."

"Thank you for your kindness and support, it truly means more than I can express. I kindly ask for privacy as l focus on my health and recovery," she concluded.

Vanessa's former sister-in-law, Ivanka Trump, publicly shared her support, writing: "Praying for your continued strength and a swift recovery. Love you, mama."

Vanessa shares her five children with ex-husband, Donald Trump Jr. The pair were married for 13 years until they split in 2018, and have maintained a friendship for the sake of their children. Don Jr recently married Bettina Anderson.

During this time, Vanessa has been leaning on her partner of over a year, Tiger Woods, who recently joined the family at the high school graduation of Vanessa's eldest daughter, Kai, who will attend the University of Miami in the fall on a golf scholarship. The 19-year-old celebrated her graduation ceremony in May with her family and friends, including aunt Tiffany Trump and Bettina Anderson.

"My strength through it all!" Vanessa shared on Instagram Stories, alongside a photograph of herself hugging Tiger as the pair soaked up the sunshine outdoors, both in matching sunglasses. The post was set to the song "Unstoppable" by Sia, and Vanessa also shared a picture of herself and her five children -- Kai, Donald III, Tristan, Spencer, and Chloe.

As well as the cancer, Vanessa and Tiger's first year together has also come under strain after Tiger was arrested in March 2026. Following a crash in Jupiter Island, Florida, Tiger blew zero on the breathalyzer but allegedly refused to submit to a urine test, leading to his arrest.

"I know and understand the seriousness of the situation I find myself in today. I am stepping away for a period of time to seek treatment and focus on my health," he shared in a statement. "This is necessary in order for me to prioritize my well-being and work toward lasting recovery."

"I'm committed to taking the time needed to return in a healthier, stronger, and more focused place, both personally and professionally. I appreciate your understanding and support, and ask for privacy for my family, loved ones and myself at this time."
