Kerry Washington made Ebony's day when she gave her a video call

In the short video, Ebony can be seen waiting for the video call, only for the realisation to dawn that she is speaking to the Hollywood star. Standing up in excitement, Ebony quickly praised the star for taking the time to speak to her. "Oh, I can't believe I'm talking to you right now," she exclaims. "You don't even know how much of a fan I am of yours. I have a Kerry – I named my daughter Kerry!"

Kerry then shared her exciting news with Ebony, revealing she has created a line of foundation with the brand which will include a wider range of skin tones.

"I wanted to reach out because I wanted to personally deliver the message about our expansion and how proud I am of it," she explained. "It really meant a lot to me in particular when people asked about why Neutrogena would bring me on if there wasn't foundation for women of colour. I've been working really hard on expanding our foundation."

She later added that "there's no reason why women of colour shouldn't have that ability to wear products that improve our skin".

Ebony first caught the star's attention when she wrote in to Neutrogena, explaining that she was struggling to find make-up to suit her skin tone.

"I use Neutrogena and wanted to find makeup to go with it but couldn't," she wrote. "You have Kerry Washington as a model representing you and nothing you have would match her skin tone."
