American Pie star Chris Klein and his wife Laina are set to become parents. On Monday the actor announced that his wife is pregnant with the couple's first baby, by sharing the sweetest photo and message on Twitter.

Revealing the news on his 37th birthday, Chris wrote: "My beautiful wife Laina and I are expecting our first child. 23 weeks along. Gratefully blessed on my 37th B-Day."

A close-up photo showed Laina cradling her growing bump, while also showing off her exquisite wedding and engagement rings.

The travel agent and the actor tied the knot last August, eight months after announcing their engagement. Chris and Laina exchanged vows in Montana at the Rainbow Ranch's outdoor church in front of 115 friends and family members.

"Laina and Chris wanted to stay true to the nature of Montana and chose native grasses, sage and flowers in a soft colour palette to reflect the beauty of Montana," their wedding planner Jennifer Horsley told People.

Chris, who wore a smart custom-made Shoreditch London three-piece suit for his big day, first met his future wife at a mutual friend's wedding. In December 2014, the actor popped the question on Venice Beach after three years of dating.

Chris was previously engaged to Katie Holmes but the couple split in 2005 after five years.

"Katie and I were on a journey together," Chris explained to People. "I was the actor who played Oz in American Pie and she was the actress who played Joey Potter in Dawson's Creek; we were like prom king and queen.

"We had a similar upbringing and we were going through the same experience. As the teenage craze came to an end, we found that our relationship was changing as well. From my side, there was a lot of denial and fear about the future. It ended as amicably as these things can end."
