ESPECIALLY ESCADA fragrances have announced Ann Purdy as the winner of its Raising Hope Award, in association with the Breast Cancer Campaign. The award was created to give recognition to a special woman who has given courage and positivity to someone affected by breast cancer, with the winner chosen by a judging panel that included classical singer Camilla Kerslake. Deeply moved by the win, health visitor Ann spoke of her delight at being able to give support to other people affected by the disease. "I believe that being a breast cancer survivor myself, I can give hope through my understanding of the highs and lows, particularly the emotional aspect of the illness, to other cancer victims," said Ann.

The mother-of-two, who was nominated by children, Connie, 22, and Julian, 19, was given the award for the contribution she has made in raising awareness of the disease and providing hope, support and inspiration to friends, family and other breast cancer survivors. Ann is also on the committee of a local charity, The Yorkshire Scan Appeal, and over the past four years her devotion has helped the organisation raise over £350,000.

The funds went towards the purchase of a state-of-the-art machine for non-surgical cancer treatment. Ann accepted her award at the star-studded Pink Ribbon Ball, held at London's luxury Dorchester Hotel on Saturday. She also received a VIP goody bag full of the ESPECIALLY ESCADA range, which is inspired by uplifting scents and embracing life, whatever it brings, and a £500 gift voucher to spend in the Escada e-store.

Christina Partakides, corporate account manager at Breast Cancer Campaign — which has raised £43million in the last 25 years to fund more than 400 research projects — explained why it was so important to recognise women like Ann. "She is such a deserving winner of this award," said Christina. "Women like Ann are at the heart of everything breast cancer campaign does."
