If, like us, your Instagram feed was also awash with clips of Josh O'Connor waxing lyrical about ‘Love-in-a-Mist’ flowers over the weekend, then you will understand the hold that this man has on the internet.
The British actor, who has been described by both his famous castmates and Gen Z as the epitome of ‘babygirl,’ has been busy promoting his latest onscreen endeavour Disclosure Day. Directed by Steven Spielberg and starring Emily Blunt, Colin Firth and Colman Domingo, the sci-fi thriller follows the story of whistleblowers who attempt to expose a massive government cover-up about estra-terrestrial life.
Prior to the press tour, Josh teamed up with stylist Jason Bolden - who has worked with the likes of Nicole Kidman, Daniel Craig, Michale B. Jordan, Bradley Cooper, Channing Tatum and Cynthia Erivo.
Together, the duo has cultivated the menswear rotation of dreams. Josh, who previously established a relationship with Jonathan Anderson during his illustrious tenure at Loewe, has been granted an all-access ticket to the Dior archives, now helmed by the Irish designer. Yet his brand vocabulary continues to expand, with recent red carpet looks hailing from The Row, Loro Piana, Dries Van Noten and Calvin Klein.
It also appears that the 36-year-old has taken the baton from Bottega boy Jacob Elordi when it comes to accessories. The Cheltenham native is often armed with a slouchy suede top bag, vintage-inspired baseball cap and single hoop earring, which has been established as the official ‘hot boy’ status symbol in recent years.
From retro graphic tees to clean-cut tailoring, Josh has cemented his status as the menswear muse to yield inspiration from this season. Discover his best looks below.
Josh O'Connor's best style moments:
Spielberg-Chic
During the press tour for Disclosure Day, Josh hit the streets in an alien-themed graphic sweatshirt (an homage to Spielberg's epic filmography), styled with a pair of navy Studio Nicholson trousers with a tapered leg, a baseball cap, a pair of Marsèll shoes and a slouchy suede Dior tote in chocolate.
Hermès Leather
Josh went hell for leather in head-to-toe Hermès. Another press tour look styled by Jason Bolden, the actor's all-black aesthetic consisted of a leather button-down shirt, matching trousers and a black belt.
Josh took his place on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon sporting a vibrant yellow shirt hailing from Jonathan Anderson's Dior. The statement piece was teamed with black trousers and silver buckle-clad loafers embossed with the maison's logo.
The British star attended the Paris premiere of Disclosure Day at the Grand Rex wearing custom Dior. A chunky cable knit tailcoat in black coolly fell over a pair of black trousers and Josh's trusty pair of logo-emblazoned loafers. A classic black tie added a traditional touch to the dandy-inspired ensemble.
Marking the New York premiere of his new blockbuster movie, Josh took to the streets of the Big Apple in another custom Dior creation - a crisp white blazer layered over a white stiff collar shirt with a blue tie. A floral brooch hailing from the Tiffany & Co. archive made for a whimsical finish while nodding to the actor's love of gardening.
Opting for a more low-key look while out and about in Tribeca, Josh slipped into a pair of pinstriped Adidas Originals Firebird joggers in emerald green, a black tee and a red chore jacket. A lesson in how to execute primary colours to perfection.
Josh introduced Calvin Klein into his wardrobe rotation, stepping out in a pale grey pinstriped suit teamed with a white shirt featuring a raised grandad collar. A pair of sunglasses and black boots made for a timeless choice of accessories.
In what can only be described as a masterclass in designer mixing, the actor stepped onto his home turf of London for the film premiere in a custom ensemble combining Dior, The Row, Loro Piana, Dries Van Noten and Cartier.
Flying the flag for French luxury, Josh attended the film's photocall in Paris sporting a Dior x Lemaire look topped with Cartier accessories. The thespian was styled in a printed brown silk shirt, layered under a chunky grandad sweater vest and pulled together with a classic tie.
Last but not least, Josh and Jason once again looked to Dior to source a beautifully tailored look for the London premiere. Leaning into a more traditional palette, the star layered up in a black suit, a white shirt and a twinkling floral brooch in green.
