While some fashion houses steer clear of the campy motifs the internet so adores, Jonathan Anderson leans into them with gusto. Dior’s creative director has rarely met a viral moment he couldn’t turn into a sell-out piece, having gifted us his namesake label’s pigeon bag and Loewe’s tomato bag, among other objects of internet desire.
For spring/summer 2027, the Irish creative seemed to dial back his penchant for surrealist design (with the exception of a crystal-encrusted swan bag and streaming bepetalled earring or two.) In fact, this season, his audience’s gaze was captivated by a more classic silhouette that graced the runway not once by thrice - a hand-pleated chiffon midi dress cut from three sumptuous colourways.
Debuted in blossom pink, pale pistachio green and inky black, the prom-ready gowns featured romantic chiffon layers that twisted softly downwards from padded panniers (an Anderson signature we saw come to life at Loewe), elegantly dancing around the models’ shins as they walked. Ultra-thin straps, a bow-topped bodice and a drop-waist design adorned with pearl-dotted chain necklaces made for a truly stunning triptych.
Inspired by Dior’s 1957 Zerline dress, the fairytale frock is already causing quite the stir on social media - and just in time for party season.
However, we appreciate that a luxury budget isn’t within reach for every Dior devotee keen to tap into the look. So, we’ve conducted some research into the best lookalike pieces that enable you to channel the aesthetic. Shop our favourite finds below.
