But there are some key design trends that are set to reign supreme in 2018, according to experts from the site. Take note; these are the top ten styles you'll be pinning – and trying – this year!

Statement ceilings: Transform a room from the top down with a statement ceiling. Think bold paint, striking wallpaper or intricate texture for the perfect finishing touches. Saves for statement ceilings have increased by 310 per cent.

Bone inlay: Saves for bone inlay have increased by 207 per cent on Pinterest, and it's easy to see why. Transforming any piece into a style statement, bone inlaid tiles are a must-try.

Herringbone patterns: Add a modern finishing touch to your room with wall tiles or flooring with a herringbone pattern. Not only is this versatile, but it will also add dimension to your interiors. Saves for herringbone patterns have increased by 131 per cent.

Statement doors: Make the best possible first impression on your guests with a colourfully painted front door. Saves are up 121 per cent for colourful doors on Pinterest, meaning this is a key trend to try this year.

Sage: It may not have been named Pantone's colour of the year, but sage is proving hugely popular with Pinterest users as a new neutral tone to try. Saves are up by 170 per cent.
