Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor has suffered a new blow following a report that he will remain in his Sandringham 'exile' home while the royal family celebrate summer in Balmoral.
After moving from Royal Lodge in Windsor to Marsh Farm in Wolferton, Andrew has continued to be surrounded by the nature and parkland of King Charles' 20,000-acre Sandringham estate in Norfolk. However, the downside of the countryside location is that it is vulnerable to wildfires in the hot UK summer.
Wild Ken Hill nature reserve, which borders the royal's estate, has issued a warning for the neighbourhood to remain vigilant, stating the risk of a wildfire is "extremely high" thanks to the "tinder-dry" ground following the hottest June on record.
This comes after devastation struck the reserve in 2022, affecting more than 80 acres and killing wildlife, much of which has been the subject of Springwatch filming in the past.
"With the ground tinder-dry and temperatures climbing again, the risk of wildfire at Wild Ken Hill and across the country is EXTREMELY HIGH right now," read the warning on Wild Ken Hill's Facebook from 17 July.
"Many of you will remember Tuesday 19th July 2022. At around 11:30 am on the hottest day ever recorded in the UK, a fire started in the Coastal Park here, close to Snettisham Beach.
"A hot south-easterly wind drove it north at terrifying speed. By the time Norfolk Fire & Rescue, supported by the WKH team and volunteers from the local community got it under control, around 33 hectares (82 acres) of vital coastal habitat had been razed to the ground. Precious wildlife was burned alive.
"What the aftermath of the fire revealed was shocking – aluminium cans, glass bottles, evidence of wild camping, disposable BBQs and smoking in the Coastal Park. Any one of those can start a fire in these conditions," concluded the post, which showed a video of the devastation of the 2022 incident.
© GC ImagesFor preventative measures, they are urging people to take all litter home, including glass, which can "magnify the sun and start a fire."
They are also asking people not to set up disposable barbecues or campfires, and to avoid using cigarettes and vapes. The Sandringham estate already has a rule for visitors not to start their own barbecues on the estate in summer, but it seems the new recommendations from Wild Ken Hill has been reinforced to locals whose homes are most at risk.
Fans added in the comments that they are "terrified" of visiting the area, but are remaining "vigilant" to any potential risks.

This came to fruition in February 2026, when Andrew was formally evicted from his 30-room property in Windsor Great Park, where he had lived with his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson.
While his permanent residence Marsh Farm underwent renovations, the former prince temporarily moved into Wood Farm, the retirement property of his late father, Prince Philip. It was here that he was arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office and questioned for 11 hours before being released on his 66th birthday.
In April, Andrew moved into five-bedroom Marsh Farm, which features stables for his horses, as well as extra security such as cameras and a no-fly zone overhead.
