King Charles may have braved Storm Boelo over the weekend, but he encouraged others to avoid danger at his Norfolk estate.

While the in Sandringham, where he often attends a Sunday service, the official Instagram account for his 20,000-acre estate issued a last-minute closure notice to fans willing to weather the storm.

Why Sandringham Parkland is closed to the public

While Sandringham House and Gardens are closed for 2026, the Sandringham Courtyard and Royal Parkland are normally open to visitors all year-round.

On Sunday, a post on their Instagram Stories read: "Hold onto your hats. Due to current weather warnings in place, the Royal Parkland will be closed until further notice. We will re-open as soon as it is safe to do so."

As of writing, they have not issued a statement confirming the estate, where Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor lives in his exile home, Marsh Farm, has reopened.

It comes after news that the heavy rain and winds of up to 80mph caused several large trees on the 77-year-old's estate to fall over in Storm Boelo, including one which caused disruption on the A149.

King Charles' plans for Sandringham estate

However, King Charles was recently granted in order to feed a herd of British White cows.

The monarch was given the green light by King’s Lynn and West Norfolk Council for the bog project, which will involve creating an area of wetland using a series of earthen "bunds" to retain water.

The area was historically described as having "steaming ooze" in the book, The King's Homeland (circa 1904).

"For a few minutes' stroll along the rough marsh roadway, which branches off from the main road through the village near a farmhouse known as the Marsh Farm, will bring him to the embankment, or sea-wall, which protects the reclaimed land from the sea.

"But he must not expect to find beyond this sea-wall a shingly beach or a stretch of golden sand, for not of such are the shores of Wash. Instead he will see, if the tide be out, an apparently limitless expanse of gleaming - and often steaming - ooze," it read.
